Hello BMMS Broncos! This email is filled with important RELAY for LIFE info. Please read carefully. Thanks so much!
The 2012 Relay for Life event is Friday, May 18, 2012 at Falcon Field in Peachtree City. Our school team is registered online as BMMS Broncos. You may go online and join the team officially. Then you will receive the official Relay for Life Fayette County t-shirt. Be sure to register online if you are a survivor. Diana Caldwell and I are representing BMMS Broncos as team captains this year.
Here is an outline of the approved fundraisers for the BMMS Broncos.
Bronco Ice sales on Mondays have already pulled in over $800! Thanks Diana for her idea of selling Bronco Ice and for organizing all our staff helpers. Thanks to the staff members who have been helping at lunch.
EGGStraordinary Event: Contributions from the eggs totaled $342! We are still receiving eggs as of today!!! Sean, thanks for the idea and thanks to Ms. Caldwell for all the money collection and counting!
Hoofprints for HOPE tshirts are on sale NOW!!!! Preorder sales are extended through Friday, April 20th. T-shirts are $10 and available for ALL: students and families! WHAT A DEAL! Faculty can pay $20 to Bennett’s Mill Middle School for two (2) jeans days with the t-shirt on the Relay Spirit Days: Tuesday, May 1st and Thursday, May 17th! Of course, wear it to event on the 18th as well. We have raised about $400 so far with our sales. Let’s get everyone in the BMMS Broco Relay Spirit!
Luminary and torch sales begin on Thursday, April 19. You will find blank forms in your mailbox, in the front office, and on our website. After students view the video from morning announcements, help the students understand the importance of luminaries and torches to honor or to remember their loved ones. Encourage them to help give tribute their loved ones. Just simply complete the form and turn in check or money with the completed form to Mrs. Menke. The names of our BMMS family will be displayed on our Tribute Wall. Is BETA still willing to handle the Tribute Wall again this year? Let me know please. Thank you.
It’s back by popular demand: Legs for a Cure contest! What cowboy has the best hoof? We will be wrestling up a few BMMS cowboys. You will vote on your favorite leg and hoof! I wonder whose hoof will win? There is a special reward for our winner J Thanks cowboys for your participation in advance! More information will come soon!
Collection Canisters will be placed throughout the building to help collect anyone’s loose change or available paper billsJ Every bit helps! If anyone has some empty Pringles cans, please donate these as soon as you can to Mrs. Menke. Thank you.
Lunches outside Each class will have a designated day for students to eat in the coral: 6th grade is May 7; 7th grade is May 9; 8th grade is May 11. Students will pay a dollar, get a sticker, and be permitted to eat outside with their friends.
Ms. Caldwell will provide more information as time approaches.
Thermometer tracking will show total money collected and the goal is to raise more than in years past. Watch that thermometer rise! Thanks to Melissa Raymer who has created our thermometers! Encourage students to look for these in the café on the stage.
We plan to staff our booth at Falcon Field from the start, approximately 5:00 until midnight. The booth needs people to sell cookies as these are donated by my husband, so all money collected can be donated.
We need walkers on the track representing our school during our entire stay at the event. Walkers can consist of students, faculty, parents. We begin with a team lap, which is always good to have students to carry our banner. There will be sign ups in May. The students will actually need a permission slip signed and returned (more info to come). If you want to attend the sunrise service you will receive more information on this as well.
If you and a few other faculty members wish to help out in any of the above fundraisers, let either Diana or myself know. Thanks so much to Sean Bennett and Jim Uttley for helping with the education and advertising via big screen and video. Some of you are leaders of organizations here at the school. Is there any activity from above that your group would like to work on? Let us know please. In the past, organizations have helped with booth set up and tear down, which is extremely appreciated too.
Thanks in advance for all your efforts for donating your time and raising money for this worthwhile cause. ~Marianne Menke and Diana Caldwell
