Purpose
The Academic Team advances academic excellence through competition with other schools/systems. It promotes teamwork and school pride.
A national honor association based on the premise of high academic achievement coupled with community service. To promote teamwork, time management, community building and school pride. To provide students with the opportunity to work on extra art projects after school hours. The primary responsibility of this group of students is to become a “friend” to new students. These students give tours of the building to new students and parents, serve as ambassadors for our new students, and help the Guidance and Counseling Department in numerous activities. To promote sportsmanship, leadership, school spirit, and our fellow athletes. The Environmental Club is established to create awareness and action related to environmentally responsible issues in the community around us. Fellowship with friends, refreshments, and opportunities to help others. To promote teamwork, time management, community building and school pride. Organized, competitive basketball representing BMMS. Organized, competitive volleyball representing BMMS. Seventh grade students are trained as peer mediators to help with conflict resolution. Students who are having arguments or conflicts with friends have peer mediators help them with solving their problems. Provide peer tutoring for students. Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events. Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation. To provide athletic activities for 6th graders. Will need signed permission form and transportation. To encourage student involvement at BMMS; Service projects at the school and community level. . To compete in track and field events, while increasing physical well being. To be a part of the creative effort to document the school year through journalism, photography, and design. |

Requirements
7th and 8th graders only. Students must try out and be able to attend practices after school two days a week and participate in competitions.

Peer Mediators are selected by personal interest, essay, and teacher recommendation. Must be seventh grade. This program is available to all students before school.
